Compass Pendant Rope Chain Necklace
Find your necklace length
Where a chain sits depends on its length. Here is how each length falls on an average build.
Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 22".
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 2" more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.
| Length | Where it sits | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 18" | Base of the neck | Choker look · layering base |
| 20" | On the collarbone | Classic · everyday |
| 22" | Top of the chest | Versatile · with a pendant |
| 24" | Mid-chest | Statement · pendant-friendly |
Layering tip: pick two lengths 2–4" apart so each chain sits on its own.

Finding your fit
A pendant necklace is typically worn on a chain that sits just below the collarbone, allowing the piece to be visible with an open shirt collar.
The details
The pendant's design is based on a classic compass rose. Its surface is sandblasted for a low-sheen, matte texture, while the raised, polished points of the compass catch small hints of light. The outer rim has a coin-edge detail, adding a subtle industrial finish.
This piece works well on its own as a single, meaningful accessory. For a layered look, pair it with a shorter, simple chain that allows the compass to remain the focus.
Specifications
How to wear it
This pendant is meant to hang on a chain that sits just below the collarbone, so it shows with an open shirt collar and rests flat over a T-shirt. The matte, sandblasted finish keeps it low-key.
Wear it on its own as a single, meaningful accessory. For a layered look, pair it with a shorter, simple chain, about 2 inches (5 cm) higher, so the compass stays the focus. Choose a black or gold chain option for more contrast.
Why this link
The compass rose has raised, polished cardinal points (N, S, E, W) on a sandblasted, matte face, with a coin-edge rim that adds an industrial finish. Little light reflects, except from the raised points. It is titanium steel, for the man who likes a compass with a rugged, understated look.
Living with steel
- Silver tone. This is bare steel. There is no plating to wear off. Shower, sea, gym: it can stay on. A soft cloth brings the shine back.
- Gold tone and black. A plated layer sits on the steel. Water is fine. Chlorine, perfume and constant friction wear it faster. Take it off for the pool, put your cologne on first, and it will last longer.
- What our warranty covers. Clasps that fail and links that break under normal wear, for one year. Normal surface wear isn't a defect, and we'd rather tell you now.

Questions
What is the coin edge on the compass medallion?
A ridged rim around the medallion, like the edge of a coin. It frames the compass rose and adds a subtle industrial finish.
Can I layer the compass medallion with a shorter chain?
Yes. Pair it with a simple chain at least 5 cm (2 in) shorter, so the compass stays the focus below it.
Does the matte compass medallion show with an open collar?
Yes. It is meant to sit just below the collarbone, where an open shirt collar shows it, and the matte face stands out against a plain shirt.
What does a sandblasted finish look like?
Matte and slightly grainy, with a low sheen. It absorbs light instead of reflecting it, so only the polished compass points shine.
Does the compass show the directions?
Yes. The cardinal points N, S, E and W are raised and polished on the face.
What chain does it come with?
The Solid medallion comes on a fine oval link chain and the Hollow compass on a rope chain. The options with a black or gold chain add a 5 mm rope chain (45 cm).
Is it a good graduation gift?
Yes. A compass is a classic symbol of direction for a new start.
