Choose a length 0.5 to 1 inch longer than your wrist: the 7.5" fits wrists of about 6.5 to 7 inches, the 8.25" about 7.25 to 7.75, the 8.75" about 7.75 to 8.25, and the 9.5" and 9.75" larger wrists. The substantial links sit more comfortably with a little room to move.
It has enough presence to wear alone with a T-shirt or a casual shirt. If you wear a watch, put it on the other wrist and let the bracelet be the focus.

With normal care, yes. The black and gold-tone finishes are platings over titanium steel: water is fine and it can stay on in the shower and the sea, but perfume, chlorine and rubbing wear them faster. The silver is polished steel.
