Men's chain and pendant sets, matched and ready to wear
A pendant on its own is only half a necklace. Every piece in this collection comes with its chain, so the chain style, the finish and the length are already worked out for that pendant. You pick the symbol and the color; the proportions are done.
All sets are made of stainless steel or titanium steel (a stainless steel alloy, not pure titanium). Silver-tone pieces show the natural color of the steel. Gold-tone and black pieces are plated over that same steel.
Which pendant style says what you want
- Crosses and crucifixes. The largest group here, from a 30 mm minimalist cross to a 60 mm block cross. If faith is the reason you're shopping, start with our cross pendant chains, which go deeper on cross sizes and styles.
- Saint medallions. Saint Michael, Saint Benedict and an Archangel medallion, round or oval, between about 20 mm and 39 mm. The Saint Benedict medallion is about 24.5 mm across on a 60 cm box chain.
- Compass pendants. A symbol of direction, popular as a graduation or travel gift. The navigational compass is a 20 mm disc engraved N, S, E, W on a 53 cm chain.
- Bars and geometric shapes. For men who want a pendant with no symbol at all: a 40 x 5 mm four-sided bar, a small 16.5 mm polished bar, an octagonal square with a black inlay, an arrowhead.
- Statement pieces. The lion head medallion (40 x 55 mm, framed with cubic zirconia) and the four-point star on a mixed snake and curb chain.
How to match pendant size and chain length
The rule is simple: the bigger the pendant, the lower it can hang. A small pendant on a long chain gets lost; a large one on a short chain crowds your collar.
- 18" (45 cm) and shorter: sits at or just above the collarbone. Good for small pieces like the rectangular bar pendant, which comes on an 18" chain with a 2" extender.
- 20" to 22" (50 to 55 cm): just below the collarbone. Visible over a crew neck, easy to show with an open collar. Most medium crosses and the dog tag live here.
- 24" (60 cm): the center of the chest. This is where pendants of 40 mm and up look right, and it's the most common length in this collection.
- 26" and longer: only one set goes past 24": the Byzantine chain with crucifix, offered from 22" to 31".
Not sure where a length falls on you? Lay an old chain flat, measure it end to end, and compare.
Gold-tone, silver-tone or black
Most sets come in more than one finish. Silver-tone is the steel's own color, with no gold or black layer to wear through, and it's the easiest match with a steel watch. Gold-tone is warmer and reads more as jewelry. Black is the most discreet over dark clothes. You can compare by color in our gold pendant chains and silver pendant chains.
Wearing a pendant with other chains
One pendant is enough. If you want to layer, add a plain chain without a pendant, about 2 inches (5 cm) shorter, so the pendant stays the lowest and most visible piece. Keep both chains in the same tone.
Care for steel pendants
Stainless and titanium steel resist rust and handle daily wear. To keep plating looking its best, put the necklace on after perfume and lotion, rinse it after the pool (chlorine wears plating over time), and wipe it with a soft dry cloth now and then. Store it flat or hanging so the chain doesn't knot around the pendant's bail.
Questions about men's chain pendants
What size pendant should a man wear?
For everyday wear, 20 to 45 mm is the comfortable range: visible, but not heavy on the chest. Pendants of 50 mm and up are statement pieces and look best on a 24" chain.
Does the pendant come with the chain?
Yes. Every product in this collection is a complete necklace, pendant and chain together, sized to work as a pair.
Can I put the pendant on a different chain?
Usually yes, as long as the new chain, clasp included, is thin enough to pass through the pendant's bail (the loop at the top). Measure the bail opening before you buy a separate chain.
What is titanium steel?
It's a stainless steel alloy, not pure titanium. It's strong, resists rust and holds a polish well, which is why it's used for many of our pendants.
What if the pendant isn't right for me?
You have 30-day returns, and every piece has a 1-year warranty against defects.
