A man's bracelet is opened and closed with one hand, often in a hurry, so the clasp matters as much as the link. Some clasps are fastest, some are the most secure, some are almost invisible. Most secure: the box clasp

Our wide Cuban bracelets close with a box clasp: it locks firmly and sits flush with the links. The Cuban Link Chain Bracelet with Box Clasp adds two side-locks, and the Silver Cuban Link Bracelet a safety latch. Choose it if you wear a wide bracelet every day.

Cleanest look: the fold-over clasp

It folds into the line of the bracelet, so the band looks continuous all the way around. A good choice for wide, flat links like the bicycle chain.

Easiest with one hand: magnetic or open cuff

The Wheat Link Bracelet with Magnetic Clasp closes as soon as the ends meet. A cuff has no clasp at all. Both are the quickest to put on and take off.

Most adjustable: the lobster clasp

A lobster clasp can hook onto any link or onto an extender chain. The Paperclip Link Bracelet uses one with a 3.5 cm extender.

Wearing more than one bracelet

Mixing closures is fine; mixing too many textures is not. Pair one statement bracelet (a wide Cuban or curb) with one fine piece, such as a 3 mm wheat chain or a cuff. Care

Silver-tone is bare polished steel; gold-tone and black are platings. You can wear these bracelets in the shower, at the gym, at the sea or in the pool. Rinse after the sea or the pool, and rinse the clasp too, where salt and sand collect. Perfume, chlorine and friction wear plating over time.
