Rope Chain in Gold-Tone Titanium Steel
Find your necklace length
Where a chain sits depends on its length. Here is how each length falls on an average build.
Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 22".
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 2" more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.
| Length | Where it sits | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 18" | Base of the neck | Choker look · layering base |
| 20" | On the collarbone | Classic · everyday |
| 22" | Top of the chest | Versatile · with a pendant |
| 24" | Mid-chest | Statement · pendant-friendly |
Layering tip: pick two lengths 2–4" apart so each chain sits on its own.

Product details
Gold-tone rope chain necklace · Titanium steel · 2.3mm wide · 18, 20, 24, 28 or 31 in · Lobster clasp
- Titanium Steel
- Made from durable titanium steel with a polished, natural finish.
- Size Options
- Offered in a 2.3mm width and five lengths, from 18 to 31 inches.
- Twisted Links
- The chain is constructed with a tight twist that gives it a distinctive rope-like appearance.
- Daily Wear
- Designed for comfort and durability, suitable for continuous wear.
Finding your fit
The 2.3mm width is subtle and works well on its own or with a small pendant. An 18 or 20-inch length sits on the collarbone, while longer options like 24 inches rest mid-chest.
The details
The rope chain's design comes from multiple small links twisted together to form a spiral. This construction creates a series of small, reflective surfaces. As you move, the chain catches and scatters light, giving it a constant, subtle shimmer.
It is a versatile foundation piece, worn alone against the skin or over a t-shirt. For a layered look, pair it with a thinner, simpler chain or add a personal pendant.
Specifications
How to wear it
18" or 20" (46 or 51 cm) sits on the collarbone, 24" (61 cm) rests at mid-chest, and 28" and 31" (71 and 79 cm) hang lower for a long pendant look. At 2.3 mm the chain is subtle.
Wear it alone against the skin or over a T-shirt, or as the base for a small pendant on 24". To layer, pair it with a thinner, simpler chain, keeping about 2 inches (5 cm) between the two lengths.
Why this link
Many small links twisted into a tight spiral create a series of tiny reflective surfaces, so the chain gives off a constant, subtle shimmer as you move. At 2.3 mm in titanium steel it is fine enough for every day and still has visible texture. It suits the man who wants a gold-colored rope chain as a quiet foundation piece.
Living with steel
- Gold tone and black. A plated layer sits on the steel. Water is fine. Chlorine, perfume and constant friction wear it faster. Take it off for the pool, put your cologne on first, and it will last longer.
- What our warranty covers. Clasps that fail and links that break under normal wear, for one year. Normal surface wear isn't a defect, and we'd rather tell you now.
Shipping and returns
- Processed within 48 hours, then shipped with tracking. Delivery times by country are in our shipping policy.
- Free tracked shipping over $60. Below that, the shipping cost is shown at checkout before you pay.
- 30 days to return it, unworn and in its original packaging. Return postage is on you, unless the piece arrived faulty or wrong.
- 1-year warranty on clasps and links. Send us 3 or 4 photos and your order number. If it's a defect, we send a new one. No need to post the old one back.
Questions
Does the 2.3mm titanium steel rope chain tarnish with daily wear?
No. Titanium steel does not rust or tarnish and will not turn your skin green. Keep perfume and chlorine off it and wipe it with a soft cloth to keep the polish bright.
Is the 31 inch rope chain too long to wear on its own?
It is the longest option, made to fall below the chest for a long pendant or an oversized look. For the chain alone, 18 or 20 inches sits on the collarbone and 24 inches rests mid-chest.
Why does a rope chain shimmer when I move?
Its small links are twisted together into a spiral, which makes many small reflective surfaces. As you move, they catch and scatter the light.
Can I layer the 2.3mm gold rope chain with another chain?
Yes. Pair it with a thinner, simpler chain and keep the lengths at least 5 cm (2 in) apart, for example this one at 20 inches with a second chain at 24 inches.
Is a 2.3mm rope chain too thin for a man?
Not for a subtle, everyday chain. 2.3 mm shows clearly at an open collar thanks to the twisted texture. If you want it noticed from across the room, look at 4 mm and up.
Rope chain vs box chain: which one stands out more?
The rope chain. Its twisted spiral catches light from every side, while a box chain of square links looks flatter and quieter at the same width.
Does it come with a pendant?
No, it is the chain alone. It takes a small pendant well, about 10 to 20 mm wide, with a loop slightly wider than the chain.
How does the 2.3mm rope chain fasten?
With a lobster clasp, a spring-loaded hook that clips onto the end ring.
Is a 2.3mm rope chain enough on its own?
Yes for a discreet look: a 2.3 mm rope is fine but has texture, so it catches the light more than a flat chain of the same width. The Rope Chain in Gold-Tone Titanium Steel is 2.3 mm in gold-tone, 18 to 31 in, and can also carry a pendant. For more presence, the Rope Chain Necklace in Stainless Steel (4 or 5 mm).
Will a gold plated chain fade?
A plating can wear over years, and faster with perfume, chlorine, sunscreen and rubbing. To keep it longer: put perfume on before the chain, rinse after the beach, wipe it dry. Water itself is fine. Our gold-tone chains are plated steel, like the Rope Chain in Gold-Tone Titanium Steel or the Figaro Link Chain Necklace. For zero upkeep, choose bare silver-tone steel.
How thick should a gold rope chain be for a man?
2 to 3 mm is discreet and carries a pendant; 4 to 5 mm is a rope worn alone. Gold-tone: the Rope Chain in Gold-Tone Titanium Steel (2.3 mm) or the Rope Chain Necklace in Stainless Steel (3 to 5 mm). Match the Rope Chain Bracelet in Stainless Steel in gold-tone.
Gold rope chain for men?
Two gold-tone ropes: the Rope Chain in Gold-Tone Titanium Steel (2.3 mm, 18 to 31 in) and the Rope Chain Necklace in Stainless Steel in gold-tone (3 to 5 mm). For a twisted bracelet to match, the Rope Chain Bracelet in Stainless Steel.
