Miami Cuban chain length guide: from 18 to 30 inches

With a Cuban chain, length matters as much as width. The links are flat and firm, so the chain does not curve as softly as a rope or a snake chain: too short and it presses against the neck, too long and it swings over your shirt. Lengths available on each Cuban chain

Some combinations are limited: on the Silver Cuban Link Chain, the 6 mm comes in 24" or 30" only, so check the options on the product page. The Cuban Link Chain Necklace is the one to look at if you want a shorter, finer Cuban.

Where each length falls

• 18": high, just above the collarbone. Neat with a crewneck tee.
• 20": at the collarbone. The most common length for a Cuban worn alone.
• 22": just below the collarbone. Comfortable with wide links, and the length to take if you might add a pendant to a 4 or 6 mm Cuban.
• 24": upper to mid chest, a relaxed drop over a t-shirt.
• 26" to 30": long and loose, mostly worn over clothing.

These positions are for an average adult neck. A thick neck or a broad chest pulls the chain higher, so if you are between two sizes, take the longer one. A wide Cuban also sits a little higher than a thin chain of the same length.

Measuring before you order

Whatever the length, you can wear the chain in the shower, at the gym, at the sea or in the pool; rinse it in clean water after the sea or the pool.
