Black and gold-tone chains for men: one chain, two finishes, or both together
"Black gold chain" can mean two things. Some men want a chain in black or in gold-tone and are deciding between the two. Others want to wear black and gold-tone together. To be clear about the materials: these chains are not made of gold, and they are not the "black gold" alloy sold by jewelers. They are steel with a plating. Black or gold-tone: how to choose
- Gold-tone catches the light and warms the skin. It is the classic look for a Cuban or Franco chain, and it shows well against white, navy or a tan.
- Black absorbs light. It gives a sharper, more graphic outline, and it looks discreet with dark clothes. In black, a chain reads slightly thinner than the same width in gold-tone.
If you wear a gold-tone watch, a gold-tone chain ties the look together. If your watch is black or you wear mostly dark colors, black is the easier match.
