Silver-Tone Chain Necklace

Silver chain necklace: a plain chain, or a chain with a pendant?

This collection mixes two kinds of necklace. About half are plain chains you choose by width and length. The other half are pendant necklaces, sold with their own chain at a set length. Deciding which one you want first saves most of the hesitation. Everything here is silver-tone steel, stainless steel or titanium steel, not silver metal.

Choose a plain chain if...

• you want to pick the exact width and length yourself;
• you plan to add a pendant you already own;
• you want to layer two chains.

Choose a pendant necklace if...

• you want one finished piece, chain and pendant matched;
• it is a gift and you would rather not guess the chain;
• the symbol matters more than the link.

Most pendant necklaces come on a single chain length, so check where it will sit before you order:

A few pendant necklaces offer more than one length, such as the slim cross on a 22" or 24" Figaro chain and the Byzantine chain with crucifix from 22" to 31". All pendant pieces are gathered on our chain pendants page.

Care for both

Shower, gym, sea and pool are fine with steel. Rinse with clean water after the sea or the pool and dry it, especially around a pendant bail where water collects. On a plated piece, perfume and chlorine wear the plating over time; bare silver-tone steel has none to lose.
