Silver-tone Cuban link chain: plain polished or set with stones?
A Cuban link is a curb link twisted and flattened so the chain lies flat and catches light evenly. In a silver tone, there is one real choice to make before width or length: plain polished steel, or links set with cubic zirconia. This page helps with that choice. All five chains are stainless steel or titanium steel; "silver" describes the color, not the metal.
For every Cuban chain we make, including gold-tone and black, see men's Cuban link chains.
The five silver-tone Cuban chains
| Chain | Surface | Width | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cuban link chain necklace | Plain, bare steel | 4, 6, 8 mm | 18" to 24" |
| Bold Cuban link chain | Plain, beveled and polished | 10 mm | 20", 22", 24" |
| Silver-tone Cuban link chain | Plain, polished, box clasp with safety latch | 6 to 16 mm | 18" to 30" |
| Cuban link chain with pave clasp | Stones on the clasp and, in silver-tone, on the links | See product page | 18" to 26" |
| Cuban link chain with cubic zirconia | Every link paved with stones | 12 mm | 18" to 26" |
Some width and length pairs are limited on the 6 to 16 mm chain; the product page shows which ones exist.
Plain polished: when it is the right call
- You wear it every day, with T-shirts, shirts, or under a jacket.
- You already wear a watch with a polished case and want one shine, not two.
- You may add a matching bracelet later. The polished silver-tone Cuban has a bracelet in the same widths, sold separately.
4 mm stays discreet, 6 mm reads clearly over a T-shirt, 8 mm and up is worn alone.
Stone-set: when it is the right call
- The chain is the only piece you wear, so it can carry the light.
- Evenings, events, a dark crewneck or an open black shirt.
- You want sparkle without a tennis chain: on a Cuban the stones sit in a flat, sturdy link.
Keep the wrist plain when the neck is stone-set. One sparkling piece at a time looks deliberate.
Care
Shower, gym, sea and pool are fine. Rinse with clean water after the sea or the pool and dry it; on stone-set chains, a soft brush clears soap from around the stones. Perfume and chlorine wear a plated finish over time.
