How to wear a gold Franco necklace
A gold-tone Franco necklace is a chain people notice. Its square, four-sided links catch light from every side, and the warm color makes it the center of an outfit. This page is about styling it: what to wear it with, how to layer it, and what to pair it with on the wrist.
Our Franco Link Chain Necklace is 316L stainless steel; the gold color is a gold-tone plating. It comes in 6, 9 and 13 mm, from 22" to 30".
Outfits that work with a gold Franco
Plain t-shirt
The simplest and the best. A white, black or grey crew neck with a 6 or 9 mm Franco at 22". The chain does all the work.
Open shirt
A linen or cotton shirt with two buttons open, and a 6 mm Franco at 22". The chain shows at the collar without looking loud.
Hoodie or oversized tee
This is where the long, wide versions belong: 9 or 13 mm at 28" or 30", worn over the fabric.
Suit or blazer
Keep it to 6 mm and wear it under the shirt, or with an open collar and no tie.
Layering a gold Franco
A Franco is strong enough to be the bottom chain of a layer. Put a thinner gold-tone chain above it, for example a fine gold-tone box chain at 18" or 20", and the Franco at 26". Keep both in the same color, and leave a clear gap of a few inches between them so they do not tangle.
Matching the wrist
Gold-tone on the neck reads best with gold-tone on the wrist. A Cuban link bracelet is the natural partner because its links are just as dense. See our gold-tone chain bracelets. If you wear a steel watch, a silver-tone Franco may be the easier match.
Gold, silver-tone or black: which to pick
- Gold-tone: the warmest and most visible, strong with white and black clothing.
- Silver-tone: bare steel, goes with a steel watch and with everything grey or navy.
- Black: the quietest, strong with dark outfits.
Gold Franco necklace FAQ
Can I wear a gold Franco necklace every day?
Yes. Shower, gym, sea and pool are fine. Rinse it in clean water after the sea or the pool; perfume and chlorine wear the plating over time.
Is it too much for the office?
A 6 mm Franco under a shirt is discreet. 9 and 13 mm are weekend chains.
What if the style is not for me?
Return it within 30 days. It also carries a 1-year warranty against defects, and shipping is free on orders over $60.
