Men's rolo chains: round links at a short 16-inch length
A rolo chain, also called a belcher or O-link chain, is built from identical round links joined one into the next. It is one of the simplest chains there is: no twist, no pattern, just a line of rings that reflects light quietly. That makes it a good base, either for a small pendant of your own or as the shortest chain in a layered set.
Our O-Link Chain Necklace in Titanium Steel is a rolo chain in titanium steel (a stainless steel alloy, not pure titanium), in polished steel or with a gold-tone plating.
A 16-inch length: what that means
The O-Link chain comes in a single length of 40.5 cm (16 in). On most men, that fits like a choker: high on the neck, above the collarbone, just over a t-shirt collar. It is a deliberate look, closer to the neck than most men's chains.
| Length | Where it sits |
|---|---|
| 16" (40.5 cm), this rolo chain | High on the neck, choker style |
| 18" to 20" | At the collarbone |
| 22" to 24" | Below the collarbone to upper chest |
If you have a larger neck, measure it first: a 16" chain should leave room for a finger. If you prefer a classic collarbone length, look at our men's 18 inch chains or 20 inch chains instead.
How to wear a rolo chain
Alone
With a crewneck or an open-collar shirt, the round links make a simple detail at the neckline.
As the top chain of a layer
The rolo is the natural first layer. Pair it with a second chain of about 18" to 20", at least 2 inches longer, so each lies on its own line. A pendant on the lower chain works well, for example the Cross Pendant Necklace with Cable Inlay, a titanium steel cross on a 22" rounded box chain that is also in this collection.
With a small pendant
The round links take a small pendant of your own. Keep it light so the chain stays straight. For more chains made to carry a pendant, see our men's chain pendants.
Care
You can keep it on in the shower, at the gym, at the sea or in the pool. Rinse it in clean water after the sea or the pool and dry it. On the gold-tone version, perfume and chlorine wear the plating over time. Every chain has a 1-year warranty against defects and 30-day returns.
Rolo chain FAQ
What is the difference between a rolo and a cable chain?
Both use simple links. A rolo uses round links; a cable chain usually uses oval links.
Is a 16-inch chain too short for a man?
It is short on purpose. It sits high, like a choker. For a classic fit, choose 20".
Can I hang a pendant on it?
Yes, a small, light pendant.
