Men's snake necklace: plain, or with a medallion?

A snake chain is made of small plates joined so closely that the surface looks continuous. It reflects light in one long, liquid line. Men who look for a snake necklace usually want one of two things: the chain alone, as the most minimal necklace there is, or a snake chain carrying a medallion. We make one of each, both in stainless steel.

The two necklaces

Choose the plain snake if...

• you want the cleanest possible line at the neck, with a linen shirt or a plain T-shirt;
• you want to choose the width: 2 or 3 mm is a fine line, 4 or 5 mm shows under a collar;
• you plan to layer it as the short chain above a rope or Cuban chain.

Choose the medallion if...

• the meaning matters: Saint Michael is a traditional figure of protection;
• you want a piece that sits high, at the base of the neck, visible with an open collar or over a crewneck;
• you prefer one finished necklace to choosing chain and pendant separately.

The round snake chain under the medallion moves smoothly and does not catch, so the medallion always hangs straight. The extender lets you move it about 2 inches.

Care for a snake chain

Snake chains do not like being folded hard: a sharp bend can leave a kink. Hang the necklace or lay it flat when it is off. Shower, sea and pool are fine; rinse with clean water after the sea or the pool, and dry it; perfume and chlorine wear the gold-tone plating faster than water.
