Gold-tone or silver-tone Figaro? Choosing the color, and keeping it
Every Figaro chain we offer comes in gold-tone and in silver-tone, so once you have picked the style, the color is the last decision. It matters more on a Figaro than on most chains, because the long link catches the light and shows the color clearly. What each finish is
- Gold-tone: stainless steel or titanium steel with a gold-tone plating. The color is a surface finish on steel, not gold metal.
- Silver-tone: the same steel, polished and left bare. There is no plating, so nothing to wear off.
- Black: offered on one Figaro piece only, the Figaro Chain with Cross Pendant.

One limit to know: the 6 mm Figaro Chain Necklace comes in gold-tone at 18" or 20" only, while silver-tone also offers 24". Keeping a gold-tone Figaro looking right
- Shower, gym, sea and pool are fine. Rinse the chain in clean water after the sea or the pool and pat it dry.
- Perfume and chlorine wear the plating over time: apply perfume first, let it dry, then put on the chain.
- Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid polishing cloths and jewelry dips, which can strip a plating.
- Store it flat or hung, apart from other chains, because the long links are where rubbing shows first.

Is the gold-tone Figaro made of gold?
No. It is steel with a gold-tone plating, at a steel price, and it can be worn every day.
Can I mix a gold-tone Figaro with silver-tone pieces?
Yes, if it is deliberate: one color on the neck, the other on the wrist. Two chains of different colors on the neck are harder to pull off.
Will the gold-tone fade?
With time and friction the plating can soften, mostly at the long links. The habits above slow it down.
What if the color is not what I expected?
Return it within 30 days. Every chain has a 1-year warranty against defects.
