Men's gold jewelry: building a matching gold-tone set
This collection brings together every piece we make in gold-tone: chains, pendants and bracelets. All of it is stainless steel or titanium steel with a gold-tone plating; a few pieces mix gold-tone with black ceramic or silver-tone steel. Rather than describe each category again, this page answers one question: how do you put two or three gold-tone pieces together so they look like they belong to the same man?
Start with one piece, then add
Most men build a set in this order:
- The chain. It is the most visible piece. A 4 to 6 mm gold-tone chain at 20" or 22" is the usual first choice. Browse them in gold-tone chains.
- The bracelet. Echo the chain without copying it exactly: same tone, similar link family, a little narrower or wider. See gold-tone chain bracelets.
- The pendant, if you want one. A cross, a medallion, a compass or a bar, on its own chain. See gold pendant chains.
Combinations that work
| Look | Chain | Bracelet |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | Cuban, 4 or 6 mm | Cuban, 5 to 8 mm |
| Mediterranean | Figaro, 3 to 5 mm | Rope, 5 mm, or wheat |
| Fine and discreet | Box chain, 1.5 mm, or rope, 2.3 mm | Paperclip or flat snake, 3 mm |
| Statement | Gold-tone Cuban, 10 mm and up | Gold-tone Cuban, 10 mm and up |
| Faith | Cross or medallion pendant | Saint Benedict medallion bracelet |
If you would rather buy a set already matched, our gold chain and bracelet sets pair a chain and a bracelet with the same links.
Mixing gold-tone with other colors
Three rules keep a mix intentional. Keep gold-tone as the main color and use the other tone as an accent. Repeat the accent at least once: a two-tone bracelet works better if your watch or pendant also has a touch of steel or black. And keep one piece clearly the star. Pieces like the Geometric Link Bracelet with Ceramic Inlay (black ceramic framed by gold-tone titanium steel) are built for this.
Looking after gold-tone pieces together
Everything here can be worn in the shower, at the gym, at the sea or in the pool. Rinse in fresh water after salt water or chlorine and dry with a soft cloth. Perfume and chlorine wear plating over time, and bracelets rub more than chains, so they show wear first. Store each piece separately so links do not scratch each other.
FAQ
Is this gold jewelry?
It is gold-tone jewelry: steel with a gold-tone plating. No piece in this collection is made of gold.
How many gold pieces can a man wear at once?
Two or three is the usual comfort zone: one chain, one bracelet, maybe a pendant or a watch.
Does the gold tone match from one piece to another?
Our gold-tone pieces share a warm yellow tone, but the shade can vary slightly from one piece to another, and a polished surface always looks brighter than a textured one.
What about returns and shipping?
