Finding your fit

6 mm is the one for every day, and plenty. 9 and 13 mm are worn alone, and they're seen. This chain starts at 22" (56 cm), just below the collarbone; take 26" (66 cm) for a pendant.

Size guide

Why this link

The franco takes the curb link and gives it four faces instead of two. It turns as you move without twisting. It's the strongest base we have for a heavy pendant.

How to wear it

This chain starts at 22" (56 cm), just below the collarbone. 26" (66 cm) lets a pendant sit on the chest, and 28" and 30" (71 and 76 cm) hang lower for a long, loose look. 6 mm is plenty for every day; 9 and 13 mm are seen.

Wear 6 mm over a T-shirt or under an open collar, alone or with a pendant on 26". Wear 9 and 13 mm alone, with nothing layered next to them.

Living with steel
  • Silver tone. This is bare steel. There is no plating to wear off. Shower, sea, gym: it can stay on. A soft cloth brings the shine back.
  • Gold tone and black. A plated layer sits on the steel. Water is fine. Chlorine, perfume and constant friction wear it faster. Take it off for the pool, put your cologne on first, and it will last longer.
  • What our warranty covers. Clasps that fail and links that break under normal wear, for one year. Normal surface wear isn't a defect, and we'd rather tell you now.
Shipping and returns
  • Processed within 48 hours, then shipped with tracking. Delivery times by country are in our shipping policy.
  • Free tracked shipping over A$90. Below that, the shipping cost is shown at checkout before you pay.
  • 30 days to return it, unworn and in its original packaging. Return postage is on you, unless the piece arrived faulty or wrong.
  • 1-year warranty on clasps and links. Send us 3 or 4 photos and your order number. If it's a defect, we send a new one. No need to post the old one back.

Questions

Which Franco chain finish keeps its look the longest?

The silver, which is bare stainless steel with nothing to wear off. The gold-tone and black versions are plated, and perfume, chlorine and constant rubbing wear a plating faster than water does.

Why doesn't the Franco chain twist when I move?

Its V-shaped links are woven tight into a square profile with four faces. The chain turns as you move, like a flexible bar, and shows the same face from every side.

Which Franco length for a pendant: 22, 26, 28 or 30 inches?

26 inches (66 cm). The 22 inch (56 cm) sits just below the collarbone for the chain alone, and 28 or 30 inches fall lower for a long pendant look. If the length turns out wrong, send it back unworn within 30 days.

Is the 6mm Franco chain enough for everyday wear?

Yes. 6 mm is the everyday width, and plenty: it shows clearly without the presence of the 9 or 13 mm, which are worn alone to be seen.

Franco vs Cuban chain: what is the difference?

A Cuban is a flat curb chain with two faces. A Franco has V-shaped links woven into a square profile with four faces, so it looks the same from every side and turns without twisting.

Is 13mm too big?

For most men, 13 mm is a bold statement worn on its own. If this is your first chain, 6 mm is the everyday width and already shows clearly.

What is the black version made of?

316L stainless steel with a black plating. The silver version is bare stainless steel, and the gold version has a gold-tone plating.

Can it hold a heavy pendant?

Yes. It is the strongest base we have for a heavy pendant. Take 26" (66 cm) so the pendant sits on the chest.

9mm or 12mm chain: what is the difference in look?

At 9 mm a chain is bold but still wearable daily; at 12 mm it is a heavy statement piece that dominates the outfit. Options: the Franco Link Chain Necklace (9 mm) or the Heavy Curb Chain Necklace (12 mm).

Should a man's chain be short or long?

For a single chain, short to medium looks cleanest: 20 inches at the collarbone. Long chains (26 in and more) suit a pendant or a loose, laid-back look. The Franco Link Chain Necklace goes from 22 to 30 in, and the Polished Cable Link Chain Necklace from 18 to 28 in.

Do you have chains for men in 30 inches?

Yes. Long lengths are available on the Franco Link Chain Necklace (up to 30 in), the Heavy Curb Chain Necklace (16 to 30 in) and the Titanium Steel Wheat Chain (18 to 30 in). At 30 inches a chain hangs low on the chest, often with a pendant.

Cuban chain vs Franco chain: which is stronger and which looks better?

The Franco is the sturdier build: V-shaped links woven into a four-sided profile, which is why it is our strongest base for a heavy pendant. The Cuban is flatter and shinier, the classic look most men picture first. Franco Link Chain Necklace (6 to 13 mm) or Cuban Link Chain Necklace (4 to 8 mm), both in silver-tone steel, gold-tone or black.

Stainless steel or titanium steel: which is better for a chain?

For daily wear they behave the same way: both are stainless steel (titanium steel is a stainless steel alloy), both stay on in the shower and at the sea. Choose by the design you like. Each product page names the exact steel, for example the Franco Link Chain Necklace in 316L stainless steel or the Polished Cable Link Chain Necklace in titanium steel.

What is 316L stainless steel?

316L is a grade of stainless steel widely used in jewelry: it does not rust and keeps its polish with simple care. Our Franco Link Chain Necklace is made of 316L stainless steel, in bare steel, gold-tone or black plating. Other pages name stainless steel or titanium steel, a stainless steel alloy.
