Cuban curb chain: what makes a curb link "Cuban"

"Cuban curb" is the name for a curb chain taken one step further. Every Cuban is a curb chain, but not every curb chain is a Cuban. If you are deciding between the two, this page explains the difference so you can pick the right one. Everything in this collection is a Cuban curb; for the classic, more open curb link, see our curb chain necklaces.

Our Heavy Curb Chain Necklace is a good example of the classic curb, in 6 to 16 mm. Compare it with the Cubans below and you will see the tighter, denser link right away.

The Cuban curb chains in this collection

  • Cuban Link Chain Necklace: stainless steel, 4, 6 or 8 mm, 18" to 24", silver-tone, gold-tone or black.
  • Silver Cuban Link Chain: polished silver-tone stainless steel, 6 to 16 mm, 18" to 30".
  • Gold-Tone Cuban Link Chain: stainless steel with gold-tone plating, 8 to 18 mm, 18" to 30".
  • Bold Cuban Link Chain in Titanium Steel: 10 mm, beveled links, 20" to 24".
  • Two stone-set titanium steel models with cubic zirconia, from 18" to 26".

Which one should you choose?

Pick a Cuban curb if you want the chain to be the outfit: it looks dense and finished even at 6 mm. Pick a classic curb if you want something that moves more, layers easily or carries a pendant. If you are unsure, a 6 mm Cuban in 20" is the middle ground most men are happy with.

Care

Both are steel and can be worn in the shower, at the gym or in the sea. Rinse in clean water after the sea or the pool. The tighter Cuban link can trap soap: a soft brush and plain water clean it out. Perfume and chlorine wear gold-tone and black plating over time.

FAQ

FAQ

Is a Cuban chain stronger than a curb chain?

The Cuban's tight, interlocked links make it feel more rigid and dense. Both are durable in steel; the difference is mostly in look and drape.

Is "Cuban curb" the same as "Miami Cuban"?

Both names are used for the same family of tight, flat curb links. Our Miami Cuban page shows the same style: see Miami Cuban link chains.

Can I return a chain if I prefer the other link?

Yes, within 30 days. Every chain also has a 1-year warranty against defects.
